The wedding that was a framily affair
Their wedding was very much a “framily” thing. What’s that? Growing up, Sarah was very involved in marching band. She and her bandmates grew up and grew close together, including all their parents. Friends and family growing together, “framily”. So instead of a first look with Tyler, Sarah planned a first look with the framily that got to watch her grow up. And during the dances, each one of the dads in their framily took turns dancing with her after her dad did. So sweet!
When we were a part of the open house at The Alexander at Creek Road, we met Sarah, Tyler and Sarah’s mom, Beth and got to chat a little bit. They shared a little bit about their plans and we were thrilled to get the chance to be their wedding photographers.
Sarah and Tyler met while at Texas Tech and ended up with a few classes together and became lab partners for a few of them. In their final semester, Tyler missed a few important lectures to take care of his mom who was diagnosed with cancer. They met to study for finals and Sarah helped Tyler by sharing her notes with him. To show his thanks, he took her out to a nearby college hangouts and they ended up talking all night. Amazing because the Spurs had a playoff game that night and Tyler is a major fan. Since that night, they were in touch constantly. After college, Tyler balanced work and caring for his mom but sadly, she lost the battle with cancer. Both of them decided to go on to graduate school in San Antonio to reach their career goals.
Tyler proposed to Sarah while on a trip to Estes, Colorado, for his twin sister’s wedding. The day before the wedding, accompanied by his sister’s photographers, they drove around a lake to look for locations for after-ceremony photos–or so Sarah thought. They found a dock and Tyler asked Sarah walk to the end so he could take a picture. After calling her name, she turned around to find him on his knee. Fast forward to today…
Sarah’s grandad made a long drive all the way to the wedding the day before but, unfortunately, was not strong enough to make it to the ceremony. So she and Tyler made a short trip to see him and made his day. They timed the ceremony well–there was plenty of time for that. Plus, the earlier time meant that there was enough pretty light outside for some awesome first dance photos that included the Alexander’s facade.
Tyler and Sarah toured The Alexander at Creek Road–it was actually the first venue they visited. They instantly felt a connection to the property. They noticed the quiet that to them was like a breath of fresh air compared to San Antonio. After meeting owners Matt and Michelle, they felt no other venue could top their property and they were right.
