Maybe proposals are my favorite. The one Chris planned for Sara was incredibly special. Incredibly personal. Incredibly sweet!
Chris got in touch with me to capture the big moments and let me know that it was going to be pretty simple. I like simple but there are still many little details that go into something like this. So we worked to make sure that nothing was left to chance and every bit of the emotional moment would be captured.
One of the things they love to do together is grab drinks near the Long Center and then they talk a stroll on the way to a certain bench. Somehow, through the time they were dating this particular bench became theirs. They’d sit and talk for a long time and just enjoy each other’s company. It just had to be the spot where Chris would propose.
And it worked like a charm! Chris was brilliant: the ring box he had especially made for Sara was hidden in his right boot. A pack of tissues was stashed in the other. Boots are practical footwear, you guys! I imagine—well, I’m pretty sure—his mind was all about Sara and her reaction as they walked toward their bench. They sat and talked for a while and Sara was already a little emotional. When Chris bent down to get the ring, it was clear she saw what was coming. And it was the sweetest thing! They both got so emotional and incredibly happy. There was so much kissing and hugging and there were tears.
I let them alone for a few minutes before we did a few portraits for them. A moment like this needs some time to process alone together so I made sure they had that. After time for more portraits, more happiness and lots of pretty light, they made sure to get in touch with family and friends to make their announcement. I can just imagine how happy everyone is for these two!
i want to give a big, giant thank you to my friend, Simi, for being there for me and serving as an epic decoy! I can’t wait to share her photos with you.
